Are You Sitting Comfortably? The Invitation
Netflix's "Are You Sitting Comfortably?" campaign was a journey into the heart of storytelling, and as the lead Product Designer, I was tasked with creating an immersive experience that began the moment a user engaged with the platform. The campaign's title was a nod to the timeless tradition of settling in for a good story, and the design echoed this sentiment. I developed a user interface that invited viewers to sink into a world of narratives, with visuals and prompts that set the stage for a cozy, personalised viewing experience.
Designing for Engagement and Comfort
The design elements of the campaign were crafted to evoke a sense of comfort and anticipation. I integrated soft textures and warm tones that mimicked the inviting atmosphere of a living room set for movie night. The user experience was enhanced with features that allowed for easy navigation through Netflix's vast library, suggesting content based on the viewer's mood and previous watching habits. The aim was to make the transition from choosing a show to viewing as seamless and inviting as sinking into your favourite armchair.
Community and Cozy Viewing
"Are You Sitting Comfortably?" extended beyond the screen to create a community of cozy watchers. I incorporated social features that let viewers share their snug setups and favourite comfort shows or movies. This campaign didn't just increase engagement; it sparked a movement where Netflix users shared and connected over their love for comfortable binge-watching. It was a celebration of relaxation and contentment, reinforcing Netflix's role as a purveyor of comfort in the digital age of storytelling.
